I feel uncapable of writing a fiction book.

At present, I am writing a non-fiction, and while I’m close to finishing it, I’m not sure if some parts are good. I also don’t have any ideas of how to improve them.

Baes on this, do you think I could become or a writer, or an ocasional writer, after attending a Master’s degree in Creative Writing?

I have an MFA in Creative Writing, and, in my opinion, the answer is "No." If you are already writing fiction, the Master’s program can help you refine your work and make professional contacts. But it won’t teach you how to write or get you started.

There’s a free online course for beginning fiction writers that you could check out at http://www.creative-writing-now.com/free-online-writing-courses.html

I am looking for books on creative writing and technical writing skills.

hey bussy..
never go fr creative writing
jus write what eer comes to your heart
what u feel like..

Inspiration for a Creative Writing Course?

I have a Creative Writing class, in which I am supposed to do the following:

1. An internal dialogue
2. Scenery description

I love to write, and I feel like I am very versed in descriptive writing, but I have a very difficult time beginning. If you could, please write some examples for an internal dialogue or scene (or both!) that I could use. I’m not particular, I just really appreciate the help.

1. Just think of something you would talk or ask yourself about. Like when you’re nervous and want to ask someone out, but you don’t know what to say so you think it in your head first to make sure you won’t sound stupid.

2. This should be easy, go anywhere and describe the scenery. If it has to pertain to #1 then think of places you would meet someone and describe it.

Identify 3 perspective groups of individuals that can contribute to a class of students. These can be groups identified by culture, learning style, special ability, etc. Be creative. Write a 1000-1250 word paper addressing the following topics:

(1) While not everyone within any group will exhibit the same qualities, what are some common characteristics of the group?

(2) What are some special challenges that an educator may have to overcome to accommodate this group?

(3) What special learning opportunities can be offered by such a group represented in class?

(4) Finally, outline very specifically 2-3 ways an educator can accommodate each difference using either a teaching method, a specific lesson plan, employing particular resources, etc. Again, be creative. Justify your accommodations by referencing your course readings and any other resources you find to support your decisions.

first make a list of all the different types of teachers/learningaides. Then choose three or four to focus on. Next, actually get some hands on experience with the chosen subjects. Speak to a person in each field and get their perspective. During this of feld work, get some research done, go to your college library and find references for each topic. Finally, add your own input to the mix.

Finding The Right Publisher For Your Book

Murder geraldine foster Finding The Right Publisher For Your Book

Image via Wikipedia

If you are a writer who wants to get your book printed and sold on the market, you may be aware by now that finding the right publisher who is fit to represent your work may not be as easy at it seems.

After all, getting a market guide and contacting an advertised publisher from there is not exactly the best way to find representation. In fact, people who may have had a lot of experience in this process will surely advise you on a much better way to find a publisher that will be right for you and your book. Here are three basic steps that you can follow to find the perfect publisher for your book.

Take A Look At Your Bookshelf

A very good place to start in looking for a publisher could be your very own bookshelf. If the genre of your work is fiction, then you probably have a good collection of this type of genre in your home. And so, take the time to look at those firms responsible for publishing your favorite books. After all, you most probably were inspired by these books, and there is a large chance your work may have a similar pattern from your favorite authors styles. And so, their publishers may find a similar liking to you.

You may also try to check books that have a similar or a related topic as the one discussed in your book. For example, if you are writing about the love for animals, there may already be established publishers who specialize in producing books on animals. In this way, you can hand your proposal to the right people who would give you the time of day instead of wasting your time on chasing after firms that will not even care to give your work a second glance.

Check Out What Is On The Market

After you have looked at your own book collection, the next step for you is to check on collections that are displayed in bookstores, libraries and all the other places that showcase books. Try to find the section where you think your book would most likely belong if it will be printed and sold.

The same principles would go as to looking at publishers responsible for books on your own bookshelf. You basically have to find books that tackle similar issues or have a common genre as what you are writing.  You are more likely to find people who would be interested in representing your book this way.

Just make sure, that your work holds an edge over the works that have already been published. After all, you will have to convince people later on how your book is different from those that are already out on the market and why people should prefer to buy it this time.

Assess And Choose The Best Publishers

For the third and last step, you must now choose a few of the best publishers, among all those that you have found in looking through various books. In choosing your top choices, make sure that you evaluate the publishers first with regards to the books that they have already published.

First, check if the books that they have published have appealing covers, a good layout and generally have a pleasing aesthetic package. This may be a defining factor for people to actually buy your book. Try to see if the book covers are attractive enough to make you want to pick them up and read them. Also take the time to feel the quality of the paper and printing. You would certainly want to be proud of how your book would be packaged.

Another thing to check is whether the publishers have helped produce interesting books with deep and relevant topics. Try to find publishers that have produced books that have similar depth when it comes to content as your own book. And make sure that they have produced interesting works that sell to people. After all, you would not want your own work to be classified as one of those flops that have disappointed readers.

And, lastly, do not forget to check how these publishers have marketed their previous books and how they compensate writers. If a publishing firm has helped many books to gain a good selling record, then you are more likely to receive the same treatment when you get their representation. In the end, your ultimate goal on this will be to appeal to an audience that will read and purchase your work, and a good publishing firm will have to help you in this at the same time, compensate you well for your hard work on your art.

Finding the right publisher to represent you may just be as critical as writing a good book itself. That is of course, if you want your book to properly get the right marketing and reach an audience. At the same time, this is a very vital step for you to be able to launch your career as a writer and get the right spotlight for your art.

Just remember to be smart in choosing your representation, because these people will not only be reflecting your work, but more importantly, they will be standing on your behalf as a writer as well. And so, follow these simple steps and find the right publisher for you and your book.

Earn Big Bucks With Your Creative Writing

Article by Chrissy Dean

I love to write. Even though I do not have any education higher than advanced high school English, and no professional experience other than two years of online writing, I still love that I can write and get paid to do so. What I don’t enjoy is spending any amount of time simply reprocessing information already available. One of the reasons I simply refuse to take any “rewrite” jobs from clients or content mills is because I still value a level of creativity in any writing job.

Many writers are just as passionate about creative writing, no matter if it is as a hobby or career. Writing for the web, however, doesn’t usually provide a very large amount of creative writing opportunities. That is, not if you happen to be looking in all the same places every other content writer. In order to find creative writing jobs on this Internet, you will need to be…well…creative.

Your first step should be to avoid getting caught in a kind of content mill rut. Content mills are a great source for churning writing articles quickly and making a few bucks, but many of them don’t care so much for personal creativity. In fact, some of them have style guides so strict that you may actually get penalized if you add a bit of flair to your writing. So be sure to use these sites sparingly and only between creative writing jobs.

You should expect most of the creative writing jobs you land to be short stories, children books, or even poems. Other possibilities may include script presentations for seminars and meetings, or even writing for plays and movies. Whenever a client wants content which is interesting, witty, and personalized they will be on the search for a quality creative writer.

Be sure to remember that when you are working creative writing jobs, it will probably take 30 – 50% longer to complete them than simple content work. Where writing 10 articles at 500 words each may only take you four days, it may take a week or even two to complete a 5,000 word short story. This accounts for times of writer’s block and the time you’ll need to come up with inspiration.

There is no set formula that you should follow when quoting your clients on creative writing jobs. While you should follow the basic guideline of adding 30% more time, you may need even more than that. The good thing about most creative writing jobs is that the client is very understanding and may even expect to have a slightly longer turnaround than for simple articles. Forced creativity can easily be picked up by readers, and no one wants that!

How to Find Book Publishers

Image via Wikipedia

Are you interested in getting a book that you wrote published?  If you are, you need to find the publisher that is the perfect fit for you and your book.  Unfortunately, this can be easier said than done.  Book publishers are picky about which books and authors they choose to work with.  The good news is that there are hundreds of publishers for you to choose from, depending on your genre.

Once you have written and proofread your book multiple times, you will need to start researching and examining publishers.  Unfortunately, this is a step that many hopeful published authors do not take.  Many simply just send copies of their books off to publishers that they already know of.  This approach is okay, but it limits your chances of getting a book published.  Instead, you will want to examine as many book publishers as possible.  Despite the fact that this sounds like a very time consuming process, it is a process that is much easier that many imagine.

One of the easiest ways to find book publishers is by purchasing printed resource guides for authors.  These guides come in a number of different formats.  Many are categorized by genre, such as children’s books, Christian books, and so forth.  What they typically do is outline publishers that accept manuscripts, as well as other detailed information.  These printed resource guides are usually updated often; therefore, if you do make a purchase, be sure to purchase an updated guide.  Speaking of making your purchase, you can find these publishing guides for authors available for sale online and in most bookstores.

As previously stated, there are a number of printed resource guides for authors that you can use to go about finding publishers to submit your book to.  One guide that comes highly rated and recommend is that of the Writer’s Market.  The Writer’s Market books cover a number of genres and they are updated on a yearly basis.  Information that is included tends to include themes that book publishers are looking for, requirements on submitting a manuscript, the address in which that manuscript must be submitted to and much more.  The Writer’s Market books are also well-known for their expert tips and advice, which is typically provided by experienced authors.

Although most Writer’s Market books and other similar printed resource guides for authors can often be purchased for under $20, many people do not like paying for something that they can find for free online.  If you are looking to use the internet to find book publishers, you will find that you do have a number of different options.  For starters, you will want to perform a standard internet search with the phrase “book publishers.”  If you are targeting a specific genre, such as children’s books, be sure to include that in your search phrase.  Your standard internet search is likely to produce a number of different results.

As for what your standard internet search will produce, you will likely find websites where a large selection of publishers are listed.  These websites may either list publishers with detailed information or you may be provided with a link to a publisher’s website.  Speaking of publisher websites, these websites can also be found mixed in with your standard internet search.

If you would like to directly find the online websites of book publishers, a standard internet search with the publisher’s name should produce the results that you are looking for.  Most have guidelines and other information posted for authors on their websites.  If you aren’t already aware of publishers, you may want to go through the books that you have in your home or visit your local bookstore.  In fact, most online retailers will list what publishers books are published through.  This can help to give you some publisher names to checkout.

As a reminder, it is important to find the publisher that you think will be the perfect fit for you and your book.  Therefore, look for publishers that are seeking just what your book has to offer.

Most people are under the impression that only a select number of people are able to write creatively and confidently. They have a gift or have gone to school to learn the secrets to confidently write creative articles, blogs, and books. But in reality, almost anyone can learn to write confidently.

First of all, you can cultivate your creative thinking by actively participating in a creative activity everyday. It can be any creative activity. It can be drawing, painting, doodling, or even coloring. I like to do rubber stamping and make simple cards for birthdays or special occasions. I also like to plan fun and creative activities, for my son’s class, to do during their class parties. I also like to write down or print out inspirational emails, sayings, or words to songs that I like or that inspire or touch my heart. This is a great place to get ideas, starting points, or topics to write confidently about. It is a great place to find creative material or ideas, that touch your heart or that matter, to write about.

Secondly, is to try something new everyday. It can be as simple as taking a different route home, which also helps to sharpen your memory. It can be to try a new type of food or just picking something that you have not tried on a menu. It can be to try out a new recipe or exercise routine. One of my favorite things that I used to do, is to take a weekly swing and salsa class. I would get my exercise in while learning new steps to dances. These new adventures or activities will help to inspire you with new ideas of things to write about and also help your confidence and creatively.

Thirdly, is to day dream. Just taking time to let your mind wander and daydream about your plans for your life, your aspirations, or your goals. I like to day dream or envision my future goals or aspirations being accomplished or met. This also helps to keep me motivated towards working towards my goals. Daydreaming also helps to develope your imagination. Spending time to just daydream and image all sorts of magical or wonderful things helps in the developement of adding more depth and description to writing. It is also fun to just leave the cares of your life behind for a couple of minutes. Then you can come back, refreshed, and ready to write more confidently and creatively.

Fourthly, you can broaden your creative writing by reading everything that you can get your hands on or that interests you. This not only expands your mind but it can also open your mind to new adventures, possibilities, ideas, and interests. That in turn, will make you a more interesting and creative writer. It will also give you more material to talk, think, and write about.

Lastly, have a notebook that you carry around that you can jot ideas or thoughts throughout the day. I also put a notebook beside my bed because right before I fall asleep, I get a lot of great ideas of things to write about. If I don’t write these ideas down before I fall asleep, by the time I am ready to write about them, I usually have forgotten about them. By having a notebook handy to jot down ideas and thoughts, it will give you a head start on finding something creative to write about and increase your confidence in your writing skills.

Remember that unleashing your creative writing skills isn’t something that usually happens magically overnight, but it is something that happens over time. It is like a muscle that you have to exercise. For instance, when you work out the first time, your muscles don’t instantly get stronger and muscular overnight. It takes time. Try the ideas that I have mentioned and you will start coming up with more and more ideas to unleash your creative thinking and writing.
